Adagio

Piano Sonata, K.570

Composer Players Instrument Notation Period
Mozart, Wolfgang Amadeus (1756-1791) solo guitar standard Classical

This is a more challenging piece than others that are offered here, but the beautiful melody it contains is worth the difficulties. Take care to play the accompaniment much softer than the melody. I have included two free pages of suggestions about playing the ornaments; they need close attention to be played effectively. Notice that both of the whole measure trills with accompaniment, a common feature of Mozart's piano music, can be played without abbreviating them - a rare event in guitar transcriptions. The MIDI sound file of the Adagio will give you some idea of how the piece sounds, but a piano recording will be more helpful. [3 pages, 175KB]
